4 Steps to Master K-12 Graph Types (Mini-Course)

Not sure about you, but my students (regardless of their age) LOVE bar charts.

But there is SO much more to graphing than bar charts…and so many instances in which a bar chart isn’t the best choice ;)

THERE IS HOPE

Empower Your Students

In this mini-course we will:

  • Unpack when to use different kinds of graphs (aka what to use when and why),
  • Review how to make common graph types (that’s right, the nuts & bolts of it all)

Yes, It Really Is Possible!

In "4 Steps to Master K-12 Graph Types", you’ll learn how to finally be confident in building out your student's data visualization skills!

With These 4 Steps, You Could…

  • Elevate your graph teaching skills
  • Gain clarity on what to use, when, and why of graph types
  • Empower your students with the tools need to rock data visualizations.
  • Learn strategies to overcome common hurdles

YES! The right strategies can make all the difference. We’ll cover it all in the "4-Steps to Master k-12 Graph Types" mini-course.

What's Included In The "4 Steps to Master K-12 Graph Types" Mini-Course...

MODULE 1 - 7

4 Steps to Master K-12 Graph Types

Learn actionable steps you can take to rock graph choice, including:

  • Getting Started: Why use and what are data visualizations?

  • Step 1: What graph type should I use?

  • Step 2: What if we want to make a comparison?

  • Step 3: What about how things are distributed?

  • Step 4: How can we see the composition of things?

  • Bonus: What if we want to share data not in a data viz?

  • Next Steps: Where can we go from here?

"I wanted to learn how to scaffold graph types for them and appropriate questions to ask about them. I am creating better resources from the shared practical, not just theoretical strategies.

-Science Supervisor, WV

"The moment I realized this was actually working to help my students was when the students were finally  "getting  it" and creating histograms!"

 -Middle School Science Teacher, NY

"My classes went well using these strategies and while I have some modifications to make, I am pleased with it. I also got students away from their standard bar graph format which is always a win!"

-Assistant Professor, WI

This Mini-Course Is For You If...

You are a STEM or Social Studies educator, coach, or administrator – working with students in grades 3-12 – interested in building data visualization skills! Examples are grounded in what is relevant for teaching data skills in grades K-12 in the United States, but everything can be applied in any data-driven setting (I mean assessment data anyone?).

Yes, I want in!
